Frances Donovan

Frances Donovan is the very popular presenter on the nightly BBC Wales Sport Show, ‘Sport Extra’. In addition to this she fronts the nightly sport headlines and also hosts a Monday night football chat show within the programme. She also presents the Friday night sport magazine programme.

Frances career began at 210FM in Reading and Severn Sound Radio in Gloucester before she joined HTV West as a reporter. Stints as a reporter for ITN and Sky News followed before she returned to Wales to become a presenter and reporter with ‘Wales Today’.

Frances love of sport soon changed the direction of her career where she began hosting a Friday night Sport Magazine show for the new digital channel BBC Choice Wales, as well as working as a reporter and presenter for the Channel Five football show, ‘In the Net’. She then went on to present sport for BBC News 24, before returning to Wales to host ‘Wales on Saturday’and co-host ‘BBC Wales’ Sports Personality of the Year’.
She was also BBC Wales’ presenter of the ‘Wales Open’ and the ‘Ladies Championship of Europe’ golf in the build up to Ryder Cup 2010.

Away from sport, Frances’ interest in history led to her presenting the challenge show ‘History Hunters’ for the BBC and she has also hosted television coverage from the Royal Welsh Show and the National Eisteddfod. She can also be heard on BBC Radio Wales as the quiz master on ‘The Extra Time Quiz’.
 
For seven years Frances hosted ‘Children in Need’ for BBC Wales.

Frances is an ambassador for the football charity, the FAW Trust. She is also an active representative for a number of animal welfare charities.
