Louise Elliott

Popular BBC television presenter, Louise Elliott, started her broadcasting career as the North Wales reporter on ‘Wales Today’. During this time she interviewed a host of stars, including Sir Anthony Hopkins.

Louise also worked as a network news correspondent in London where she reported for the ‘ten o’clock News’; Radio 4’s ‘Today’ programme; ‘News 24” and Radio 5 Live. During this time her reports included live coverage of the devastating ‘foot and mouth crisis’ and the celebration surrounding yachtswoman Ellen MacArthur’s homecoming. She also presented live television coverage and reaction to the 2001 budget

 

Louise Elliott On her return to Wales, Louise moved into investigative journalism and joined the team at BBC Wales’ ‘Week In Week Out’ programme as presenter. It was during this time that Louise became known for her ‘door stepping skills’ – catching people off-guard and getting answers to crucial questions that they had previously refused to answer.

From ‘Week in Week Out’ Louise became presenter of the highly popular BBC Wales’ television programme ‘X-Ray’. To the delight of Louise, the programme won a prestigious BAFTA Cymru Award for the ‘Magazine Programme of the Year, 2005’.

Louise was also awarded the ‘Consumer Journalist of the Year (2006)’ for Wales by the influential Trading Standards Institute.

 

Louise can often also be heard on BBC Radio Wales. ‘Good Evening Wales’; ‘XRay Xtra’; and the ‘Jamie Owen’ programme are amongst the programmes she has presented.

Prior to broadcasting Louise was a highly regarded reported covering stories like the Hillsborough Disaster and the ‘Monster Massacre’ in Bosnia. Her writing during this time twice won her the ‘Regional Young Journalist of the Year’ title.

Louise could never have envisaged being the high profile television presenter she is now all those years ago when, after her A-levels, her dad mentioned journalism as a possible career. She immediately thought ‘that’s it’ and that was the first step on the rung of the ladder her commitment and passion has helped her climb and conquer.
