Owen Money is one of BBC Wales’ most versatile presenters. He has had a highly successful career spanning many genres of entertainment. From music to comedy to presenting his own television and radio programmes, Owen has done it all.
Owen was born in Merthyr Tydfil and grew up in the South Wales valleys. He started his career in show business as a bass guitarist and lead singer with pop group ‘The Bystanders’ who had hits in the 60s on the Pye label.
Owen’s flair for comedy led to him forming his own comedy band ‘Tomfoolery’. This went on to become one of the UK's most successful comedy show bands. They appeared at leading venues all over the U.K. and often topped the bill at Blackpool’s South Pier.
In 1980 Owen launched his solo career, soon winning Club Land ‘Comedian of the Year’ Award’. He proved so successful that he was soon performing alongside world renowned performers including Shirley Bassey and Tom Jones. |
