Former Stereophonics Drummer, Stuart Cable
Stuart Cable’s natural charm, effervescent personality and sensual, husky, voice have been attributes that have made him a successful broadcaster with weekly programmes on both BBC and Kerrang radio. He also has many highly acclaimed television programmes to his credit. His charismatic ‘boy-next-door’ presentation style won the hearts of audiences and ‘high profile’ guests alike on his many television chat shows

Stuart was absolutely thrilled to win a BAFTA for his part as the voice of ‘Colin’ in the BBC award winning animation series ‘Colin and Cumberland’.

It was, however, in the world of rock music that Stuart first attained world-wide acclaim, as a founder member of the internationally renowned rock group ‘The Stereophonics’. Stuart was born in the small village of Cwmaman, South Wales. He grew up with a passion for rock music, spending much of his time listening to the likes of Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and ACDC. This music fuelled a fire in him to play and he took up the drums at the age of 14, practicing night after night to perfect his art.

Eight doors away lived eleven year old Kelly Jones and they started practicing together. Both boys were highly committed and they had their first public appearance aged 17 and 14 respectively. They played together for five years in the pubs and clubs of the Welsh Valleys but eventually went their separate ways

After a fateful reunion some years later, Stuart, Kelly and another local boy, Richard Jones, formed the band ‘Tragic Love Company’ (a name compiled from their favourite bands ‘The Tragically Hip’; ‘Mother Love Bone’ and ‘Bad Company’). They had a gift for song writing and they performed their own numbers all over U.K. They became the ‘Stereophonics’ in 1996.

The key to the door of success, however, came whilst supporting Catatonia locally. In attendance that night was a man who would change the course of their lives. John Brand was so impressed by their undeniable talent that he promised them a record deal within three month; he was absolutely bowled over by their brilliance. They wrote a song, made a demo and John took it around all the major record companies – everyone he went to wanted to sign them. After much deliberation they went to Richard Branson’s new V2 Label knowing that he had headhunted the best personnel in the industry. John Brand was true to his word.

They very quickly became one of the biggest bands in the UK. Their first album ‘Word Gets Around’ sold 800,000 copies. All subsequent albums went straight to ‘No. 1’. They went on to attain worldwide fame working with the likes of U2; DAVID BOWI; BON JOVI; RED HOT CHILLI PEPPERS; CHARLETONS; AEROSMITH; BLACK CROWS and many more. Stuart and the band parted company in 2003.

Stuart is becoming a great hit with organisers of Award Ceremonies and other high profile events.
