I’ve been a huge fan of University Challenge over the years, so being asked to appear on the programme, and to represent Leicester University, where I was student, was a massive honour. However, in the run to recording the show I did have a few sleepless nights! Like most people, I manage to get a few answers right when watching at home, but I was definitely putting myself out of my comfort zone.

It was fabulous to be part of team Leicester, Jeremy Paxman and the whole production crew were fantastic, and never has 25 minutes gone so fast in my life. What an experience! You can see how we got on, when Christmas University Challenge - Edinburgh v Leicester - airs on BBC 2 at 20:30 on December 20th.

The brilliant, compelling book, ‘The Pembrokeshire Murders’ by Steve Wilkins and Jonathan Hill, has just hit No. 8 in the Sunday Times Best Sellers list. Whether you are facing a difficult time at home or in school, need internet access or information for a project or if you want to get your hands on a stash of graphic novels or e-books, the library is a great place to find all this and best of all it's free! So I'd urge you and your mates to take a fresh look at your library this autumn and see what they have to offer."
